Mahama leads Nana Akufo-Addo in opening doors for women – Mary Gardiner (VIDEO)

Former President John Mahama and the Presidential Candidate for National Democratic Congress has settled on former Education Minister, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as his running mate for the 2020 elections.
The Council of Elders and Founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) approved the choice of the candidate . She prevailed after stiff competition from other equally qualified candidates.
Analyst have praised the decision by former President Mahama to select a woman as his candidate especially when his main rival President Akufo-Addo was in 2019 caught in a very uncomfortable position at a gender activists conference in Vancouver.
Speaking to Starr Radio UK shortly after the announcement, Ms Mary Gardiner paised the choice by the Presidential of the NDC and made reference to comments President Akufo-Addo made during his encounter with women activists in Vancouver in 2019. At that programme, Nana Akufo-Addo was seen struggling to accept the fact that it was time to elevate women into positions of higher office in Africa.
Below is a short video of President Akufo-Addo encounter with an 18year old women advocate during the conference
