TANZANIA: Over 20 killed during a religious service held by Pastor Boniface Nwamposa
At least 20 people died and 16 others injured during an outdoor religious service in the northern town of Moshi, near Mount Kilimanjaro.
The service was held by pastor Boniface Mwamposa, who refers to himself as “the apostle”. Witnesses say worshippers were crushed trying to touch what the preacher had said was “holy oil”, which he’d poured on the ground.
Special prayers are be held at a ceremony on Monday led by Kilimanjaro’s regional commissioner.
