United Close To Sanchez Capture

Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez has not travelled to Bournemouth for Sunday’s afternoon’s clash against Bournemouth as the Chilean prepares to leave Arsenal.

The news enhances the expectancy of Sanchez leaving this month, with both Manchester clubs vying for his signature.

And Sportsmail understands a switch to United is becoming a real possibility for Sanchez, despite the prospect of a virtually guaranteed title medal at Manchester City.

On Friday, manager Arsene Wenger had planned to include the attacker in his squad for the trip to Eddie Howe’s side.

But Wenger is understood to have changed his mind after training on Saturday.

Speaking on Sunday about the reasons for leaving out Sanchez, Wenger admitted his head had been turned.

‘He’s being vague at the moment. His situation is not completely decided one way or the other, so I left him at home,’ he said pre-match on Sky Sports when asked about Sanchez’s future.

‘Yes [a resolution is imminent], don’t read too much in it because even I don’t know really what way it will go.

When asked if he hopes the situation would be resolved quickly, Wenger replied: ‘Exactly, you want to focus on the players who are on the pitch and can do well for the club.’

The Gunners boss was asked finally if he knew where the No 7 was heading to and his reply was a blunt ‘no’.

United are prepared to make Sanchez the Premier League’s first £350,000-a-week player.
